Merge PDF
Combine multiple PDF files into a single PDF, with full control over page order and the ability to insert blank pages anywhere. Everything runs locally in your browser — your files are never uploaded to any server. Free, no file count limit, no watermark, no sign-up. Merged output preserves original fonts, image quality and selectable text layers — no quality loss from re-encoding. Ideal for combining scanned receipts, contract attachments and report chapters into one document for submission or archival.
- Drag multiple PDFs into the page, or click "Select files" to add them in batch
- Review the thumbnail grid — each file is color-coded
- Drag cards to reorder pages, mixing across source files freely
- (Optional) Click "+ Add blank page" to insert a blank page between any two pages
- Pick blank page size (A4, Letter, or match the previous page)
- Click the × on any thumbnail to drop a page
- Click "Process" once the order looks right
- The merged PDF downloads automatically as merged.pdf
- Click "Reset" if you want to start a different merge
If sources include scans, run OCR first to give each file a searchable text layer — the merged result will then be fully searchable. For very large merges, compress each source individually first to reduce the final size.
Split PDF
Split a PDF into multiple independent files — by page range, by fixed page count, or by bookmark hierarchy. All splitting runs locally in your browser; source files are never uploaded. Free, unlimited, watermark-free. Splits preserve fonts, images and text layers, so output files open cleanly. Common uses: extract a single chapter from a large scan, split a contract's appendices for separate distribution, slice a long document into chapters for easier handoff.
- Drag or pick the PDF to split
- Confirm page count and content via the left-side thumbnails
- Pick a split mode: "By page range", "Every N pages", or "By bookmarks"
- For ranges, enter the page numbers you want to keep (e.g., 1-3,5,7-9)
- For "Every N pages", enter N (defaults to 1 — one page per file)
- For bookmark splitting, the tool auto-splits along level-1 bookmarks
- Preview the resulting file list and per-file page counts
- Click "Process"
- Output is automatically packaged as ZIP, files named after the source plus an index
Decide on a naming convention first: range splits produce names like "original-pages-1-3.pdf"; bookmark splits use bookmark titles. To extract a non-contiguous selection, the page-range mode is more flexible than per-N splitting.
PDF to Image
Convert each page of a PDF into PNG or JPG images at native resolution, no watermark. Conversion runs locally in your browser via pdfjs-dist; the PDF is never uploaded, the tool is free, has no page limit and requires no sign-up. Use it to drop a single PDF page into a slide deck, save a scanned page as an image for further editing, or grab a key page from an ebook as wallpaper or reference.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Wait for the left-side thumbnails to render
- Pick output format: PNG (lossless, larger) or JPG (lossy, smaller)
- Pick output DPI: 72 (screen), 150 (regular print), or 300 (high-quality print)
- For JPG, fine-tune the quality slider between 70 and 95
- Click a single thumbnail to export just that page
- Or click "Select all & export" to render every page
- Click "Process"
- Single pages download as image files; multiple pages bundle into a ZIP
High DPI (e.g., 300) consumes more memory — for PDFs over 100 pages, batch the work or lower the DPI. If you only need the original images embedded inside the PDF, the Extract Images tool yields the raw source assets at original resolution, which is more faithful than a re-render.
Image to PDF
Combine multiple JPG, PNG or WebP images into a single PDF, with control over page size (fit-to-image or A3/A4/A5/Letter/Legal), orientation and image order. Runs locally in your browser; images are never uploaded. Free, unlimited file count, no watermark. Ideal for turning phone-shot contracts, receipts and notes into a PDF for expense submission or archival; combining ID photos into a single document; building photo albums.
- Drag or pick multiple images (JPG / PNG / WebP)
- Review the thumbnail grid
- Drag thumbnails to reorder pages
- Pick page size: "Fit image" (each page equals the source image), or a standard sheet (A3/A4/A5/B4/B5/8K/16K/Letter/Legal)
- Pick orientation: "Portrait" or "Landscape"
- For fixed sheets, further pick image alignment (centered/stretched)
- (Optional) Enable "Auto-rotate" so landscape images get landscape pages
- Click "Process"
- The generated PDF downloads automatically
For contract scanning, use a "document scanner" app (or your phone's built-in scanner) for perspective correction and cropping first — it beats raw photos. For A4-sized submissions, pick fixed A4 + center, not "Fit image".
Extract Text
Extract all selectable text from a PDF, page by page, and download as a plain-text TXT file. Extraction runs locally in your browser via pdfjs-dist parsing of text objects. No upload, no watermark, no limits, free. Use it to copy report text into Word for further editing, take notes from an ebook chapter, search contract clauses, or feed clean source text into analysis pipelines.
- Drag or pick the PDF
- Check left-side file info (page count, presence of text layer)
- (Optional) Toggle "Insert page break markers" for visual separation
- (Optional) Toggle "Preserve paragraph breaks" (off keeps original line wrap)
- Pick output encoding: UTF-8 (recommended) or GBK (legacy Windows compatibility)
- Click "Process"
- The right-side panel shows the page-by-page text preview
- Click "Copy all" to clipboard, or "Download .txt" to save
If the output columns look misordered, copy the same passage in a regular PDF reader and check — the ordering quirk often comes from the PDF itself, not the tool. For strict table preservation, consider a dedicated PDF→Excel tool.
Extract Images
Extract every raw embedded image (JPG/PNG) from a PDF at original resolution, then download them as a ZIP. Runs locally in your browser, parsing PDF internal XObjects. No upload, no watermark, free. Unlike PDF-to-Image (which rasterizes whole pages), this tool returns the original source assets a designer embedded — great for recovering image assets from design files, pulling the original scan from each page of a scanned PDF, or extracting illustrations from an ebook.
- Drag or pick the PDF
- Wait for the left side to scan all in-page image objects
- Review per-image thumbnails and dimensions
- Pick a minimum-size threshold (e.g., ignore < 100×100 icons)
- Tick images to export, or click "Select all"
- Pick naming: page+index / index only / original object name
- Click "Process"
- Images bundle into a ZIP, kept in their original format (no re-encoding)
Embedded image dimensions can differ from what's visible — PDFs often display large images at reduced size, so the extracted source is often higher-res than expected. If too many small icons clutter the output, raise the size threshold.
Rotate Pages
Rotate a whole PDF or individual pages by 90°, 180° or 270° (clockwise or counter-clockwise), to fix scans that came out sideways or adjust for specific viewing scenarios. Rotation is lossless — file size barely changes, text and images are fully preserved. Runs locally in your browser via pdf-lib, modifying page metadata; no upload, no watermark, instant.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Spot the misoriented pages in the thumbnail list
- Pick a mode: "Rotate whole document" or "Per-page selection"
- For whole-doc mode, click "90° CW", "90° CCW" or "180°"
- For per-page mode, set the rotation independently on each thumbnail
- The right-side preview reflects rotation live
- Confirm and click "Process"
- The output PDF downloads with "-rotated" appended to the name
For hundreds of pages of scanned content, "Rotate whole document" is fastest. If only a few pages are off, "Per-page selection" gives precision without touching the rest.
Delete Pages
Remove unwanted pages from a PDF — single pages, contiguous ranges, or scattered selections. The tool rebuilds rather than physically deletes: output preserves fonts, images, text layers and bookmark anchors (with deleted pages skipped). Runs locally in your browser via pdf-lib; no upload, no watermark, no limits, free.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Review the thumbnail grid
- Click thumbnails to mark them for deletion (or Shift-click for contiguous selection)
- Or type page numbers in the top input field (e.g., 3,5-7,10)
- Pages to delete show a red × in preview
- Confirm and click "Process"
- Download the new PDF, named with "-cleaned" suffix
If you want to keep just a few pages, use Extract Pages instead — picking what to keep is faster than excluding the rest. Before destructive deletes, run Split first as a quick backup.
Extract Pages
Pull selected pages from a PDF to form a new PDF — the inverse of deleting. Commonly used to slice a single chapter out of a large compendium for distribution. Runs locally via pdf-lib; no upload, no watermark, no page limit, free.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Review the thumbnail grid
- Tick pages to keep, or type a range like 1-3,8,15-20
- (Optional) Drag to reorder the extracted pages
- The right-side preview shows the new sequence
- Click "Process"
- Download the result, named with "-extracted" suffix
For straightforward sequential extraction, enter ranges like 1-5,10-15. If you want to reorder (e.g., put page 10 first), tick first then drag thumbnails. Batch ranges beats clicking pages one by one for bulk extractions.
Reorder Pages
Rearrange page order within a PDF by dragging thumbnails. Use it to fix scans that came in the wrong order, recover from a merge gone sideways, or move the TOC to the front. Runs locally via pdf-lib; no upload, no re-rendering, no quality loss. Free, no page limit.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Review the thumbnail grid
- Click and hold any thumbnail to drag it to a new position
- Other pages reflow automatically; the order updates live
- (Optional) Use the "Reverse all" button to flip the whole document
- (Optional) "Sort by filename" auto-orders a multi-file merge by name
- Confirm the new order in the preview pane
- Click "Process"
- Download the reordered PDF, suffix "-reordered"
If the source came out wholly wrong-order, "Reverse all" or "Sort by filename" beats manual dragging. Always keep an original-file backup elsewhere before bulk reorganization.
Crop Pages
Crop PDF pages to trim white margins, scanner black borders, or unwanted header/footer regions. Cropping is non-destructive — it adjusts the visible CropBox while preserving original content, so it's reversible. Runs locally via pdf-lib; no upload, no watermark, no page limit, free. Use it to clean up A4 scanned contracts, strip ads from ebooks, normalize margins for printing.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- See thumbnails on the left and the first-page large preview on the right
- Drag the four sides of the crop frame to set the visible area
- The shaded area outside the frame will be cropped
- Pick scope: "Current page only", "All pages", "Odd pages", "Even pages", or custom range
- (Optional) Enable "Auto-detect content bounds" — the tool scans each page for the maximal non-blank rectangle
- Click "Process"
- Download the cropped PDF, suffix "-cropped"
The frame set on the first page is used as a template across the selected scope. If page-by-page content varies (charts that stick out on some pages), "Auto-detect content bounds" is more reliable. For pre-print crops, leave a margin for printer-safe area — don't trim all the way to content edge.
Insert Blank Pages
Insert blank pages, image-converted pages, or pages from another PDF anywhere in a target PDF. Pick exact insertion position, page size and orientation. Runs locally via pdf-lib; no upload, no watermark, no count limit, free. Use it to patch missing pages in a scanned contract, add a cover or separator to a merged report, or drop appendices into a textbook.
- Drag or pick the target PDF
- In the thumbnail list, click between any two pages — a "+" appears
- Choose source: "Blank page", "Image as page", or "From another PDF"
- For blank pages, pick size (match previous / A4 / Letter) and orientation
- For image, drag JPG/PNG/WebP and pick alignment
- For PDF-source insertion, upload the source and pick the page range
- (Optional) Increase "Pages to insert" to drop multiple blank pages in one spot
- The right preview reflects the insertion
- Confirm and click "Process"
- Download the new PDF, suffix "-inserted"
For multiple blank pages, set "Pages to insert" instead of clicking + repeatedly. To prepend a cover, set the insertion point to "Before page 1".
Add Watermark
Add text or image watermarks to a PDF, with full control over font, size, color, opacity, rotation, position, and tile-fill (page-wide pattern). Chinese characters render perfectly without uploading fonts. Runs locally via pdf-lib; no upload, no page limit, no product watermark (unlike many free online tools that brand your output with their logo). Use it to stamp contracts with "Draft", mark design samples with copyright, or label internal documents "Confidential" to deter leaks.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Pick watermark type: "Text" or "Image"
- For text, type the content (e.g., "Confidential", "DRAFT")
- Tune font (default system fonts), size, color, opacity (20%-80% typical)
- Set rotation (45° diagonal is most common) and position (center / corner)
- (Optional) Enable "Tile entire page" so the watermark covers everywhere — harder to crop out
- For image, drag a PNG (transparent background recommended) and adjust position/size/opacity
- Pick scope: "All pages", "First page only", "Odd/Even pages", or custom range
- The right-side preview updates live for the first page
- Confirm and click "Process"
- Download with "-watermarked" suffix
For anti-removal robustness: 45° diagonal + tile-fill + semi-transparent (30-50%) is the gold standard. If you'll add a signature image on top, watermark first then run the Signature tool to overlay the signature.
Add Page Numbers
Batch-add page numbers to a PDF, with customizable position (six standard header/footer slots), starting page index, display format (e.g., "Page 1 of 10"), font size and color, and per-range application (skip cover, etc.). Runs locally via pdf-lib; no upload, no watermark, no page limit, free. Common use: page-number a merged report, paginate a thesis per academic norms, label a contract "Page X of Y" to deter tampering.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Pick position (header/footer × left/center/right, six total)
- Pick format: "1", "1 / 10", "Page 1", "Page 1 of 10", "i, ii, iii" etc.
- Tune font size (default 10pt) and color
- Set start page (default 1) and start number (default 1) — e.g., skip a cover by starting at page 2
- (Optional) Enable "Duplex layout": odd pages on right, even on left, mimicking book typography
- Pick application range
- Preview the first three pages
- Confirm and click "Process"
- Download with "-numbered" suffix
Standard academic recipe: number abstract/TOC with i,ii,iii, then run the tool again for the body with 1,2,3 starting fresh. The tool supports two-pass execution for exactly this.
Sign PDF
Add electronic signatures to a PDF — handwrite with mouse/touch, upload a transparent PNG, or generate a typed signature in a calligraphy font. Signatures embed as image layers with full control over position, size, opacity, and page selection. Runs locally via Canvas API + pdf-lib; signature and PDF never leave your browser. Free, no watermark, no limits. Perfect for remote contract signing, internal approvals, electronic archive sign-off.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Pick a signature method: "Handwrite", "Upload image", or "Type with font"
- Handwrite: draw with mouse or touchscreen; the tool auto-clears the background to produce a transparent PNG
- Upload: drag a transparent PNG (200×80 pixels recommended)
- Type: enter your name and pick a calligraphy font
- Click a thumbnail to select the page to sign
- Drag the signature to position, resize from the corner handle
- (Optional) Enable "Apply same position to all pages" for multi-page contracts
- Confirm and click "Process"
- Download the signed PDF, suffix "-signed"
A transparent PNG at 200×80 pixels strikes the best signature balance — too large stands out, too small loses fidelity. After signing a contract, run Encrypt to set "open but no edit" permissions to deter tampering.
Encrypt PDF
Set passwords on a PDF — both an open password (required to view) and an owner password (controls permissions: print, copy, edit). Algorithm options: AES-256 (PDF 2.0, strongest), AES-128 (Acrobat 9+ compatible), or RC4-40 (weakest, only for legacy Acrobat 4). Runs locally via qpdf-wasm; no upload, no watermark, free. Use it to protect contracts, financial reports, customer data against unauthorized access.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- First use downloads the ~2MB qpdf engine (one-time)
- Decide if you want an open password (required to view the PDF)
- Enter the open password and confirm
- (Optional) Set an owner password to control permissions
- If set, configure permissions: allow printing, copying text, modifying annotations, filling forms
- Pick the cipher: AES-256 (recommended) / AES-128 / RC4-40 (deprecated)
- Click "Process"
- Download the encrypted PDF, suffix "-encrypted"
Set both an open password (gates viewing) and an owner password (refines permissions like print/copy). Strong passwords are at least 12 mixed characters — weak passwords negate the encryption.
Decrypt PDF
Remove protection from an encrypted PDF with the correct password, producing a password-free file ready for editing, merging, or conversion. This is not a password-breaker — the correct password is mandatory. Runs locally via qpdf-wasm; no upload, no watermark, free. Use it to strip self-set passwords for redistribution, or process a PDF after the sender provides the password.
- Drag or pick the encrypted PDF
- First use downloads the ~2MB qpdf engine
- Enter the open password (the one you'd type to view the PDF)
- Or enter the owner password (the permissions password)
- Click "Process"
- If the password is correct, a password-free PDF is generated
- Download with the "-decrypted" suffix
- If the password is wrong, the tool will tell you; double-check input and which password type
Before decrypting, confirm what you actually need — often the goal is to lift print/copy restrictions, not the open password. In that case, Remove Password is more precise.
Batch Remove Password
Strip owner-password permission restrictions (e.g., "no printing", "no copying", "no editing") from a PDF while preserving the open password (if any). Requires the owner password, or works directly when permissions allow. Runs locally via qpdf-wasm; no upload, no watermark, free. Use it to unlock viewable but copy/print-restricted PDFs — common in ebooks and some academic papers.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- First use downloads the ~2MB qpdf engine
- Review detected restrictions (e.g., "Printing not allowed", "Copying not allowed")
- Enter the owner password if required; skip if not
- Click "Process"
- The tool strips permission restrictions and outputs an unrestricted PDF
- Download with the "-unlocked" suffix
If the PDF has both an open password and permission restrictions, do it in two steps: first Decrypt to lift the view block, then Remove Password to lift permissions. Or just use Decrypt — full decryption removes both at once.
Compress PDF
Compress a PDF for smaller file size — useful for email attachments and upload-size limits. The strategy is rasterization-based: each page renders as an image and re-embeds, often hitting 10-30% of the original size. Note: text becomes a flat image layer (no longer selectable or searchable) — best for scans or final-distribution copies. Runs locally via pdfjs-dist + pdf-lib; no upload, no watermark, no page limit, free.
- Drag or pick a PDF
- Review the left-side file info: current size, page count, whether a text layer exists
- Pick a compression level: "Maximum" (smallest, lower quality) / "Balanced" / "High quality" (lightest compression, quality preserved)
- (Optional) Tune the "Output DPI" between 72 and 200
- (Optional) Enable "Preserve selectable text layer" (less reduction but keeps search functionality)
- Review the estimated output size
- Click "Process"
- Wait per-page (about 1-3 sec each)
- Download the compressed file with reduction percentage shown
Check the file's makeup first: pure-text PDFs may actually grow when rasterized — convert to Word format instead. High-image PDFs compress most dramatically. To preserve search functionality, pick "Preserve selectable text layer" + "Balanced" mode.
OCR
Run optical character recognition on scanned PDFs to turn image-based pages into a real text layer — making the PDF fully searchable, copyable, and downstream-extractable. The OCR model runs locally in your browser (first run downloads ~5-35 MB of language data, then works fully offline). No upload, no watermark, free, no page limit. Use it to enable full-text search across scanned contracts, digitize library/archive materials, or convert handwritten note scans into editable text.
- Drag or pick a scanned PDF
- Pick language: Chinese / English / Chinese+English / Japanese / Korean
- First use auto-downloads the language model (English ~5MB, Chinese ~30MB)
- Wait for the model to load (5-15 seconds)
- (Optional) Toggle "Keep original image as background" (recommended for searchable PDF output)
- (Optional) Tweak "DPI resample" (300 default, balance of accuracy and speed)
- Click "Start OCR"
- Watch the progress bar — roughly 3-8 seconds per page on a modern CPU
- Output is a searchable PDF (text layer over the scan) or plain TXT
Scan quality is the single biggest factor: 1) Scan at 300 DPI minimum; 2) Keep pages straight (no skew); 3) Avoid shadows and glare; 4) For black-and-white documents, binarize first for better contrast. Use the Chinese+English mixed model for documents that mix languages — single-language models perform poorly on the other script.
