Insert Blank Pages
Insert blank pages at a chosen position
How to use
Purpose
Insert blank pages, image-converted pages, or pages from another PDF anywhere in a target PDF. Pick exact insertion position, page size and orientation. Runs locally via pdf-lib; no upload, no watermark, no count limit, free. Use it to patch missing pages in a scanned contract, add a cover or separator to a merged report, or drop appendices into a textbook.
Steps
- Drag or pick the target PDF
- In the thumbnail list, click between any two pages — a "+" appears
- Choose source: "Blank page", "Image as page", or "From another PDF"
- For blank pages, pick size (match previous / A4 / Letter) and orientation
- For image, drag JPG/PNG/WebP and pick alignment
- For PDF-source insertion, upload the source and pick the page range
- (Optional) Increase "Pages to insert" to drop multiple blank pages in one spot
- The right preview reflects the insertion
- Confirm and click "Process"
- Download the new PDF, suffix "-inserted"
FAQ
- Will files be uploaded?
- No. All insertion logic runs locally via pdf-lib; the target PDF, image, or source PDF never leaves your device.
- Can blank pages match the surrounding page size?
- Yes. Pick "Match previous page" — the blank page inherits size and orientation automatically, no manual config needed.
- Can I insert pages from an encrypted source PDF?
- Decrypt the source first with the Decrypt tool, then use it as the insertion source.
- Will page numbers auto-renumber after insertion?
- Internal indexes shift; printed footer page numbers don't. After all insertions, run the Page Number tool to regenerate footer numbers uniformly.
- Can I insert many blank pages in one place?
- Yes. Set "Pages to insert" between 1 and 50 to drop multiple blanks consecutively. Common when reserving signature/appendix space at the end of a contract.
Use cases
- Patch a missing page back into a scanned contract
- Add cover and chapter separators to a merged report
- Append a blank answer-sheet PDF to a textbook
- Insert an acknowledgments page after the TOC in a thesis
- Drop speaker-notes blanks between slides in a PDF deck
Tip
For multiple blank pages, set "Pages to insert" instead of clicking + repeatedly. To prepend a cover, set the insertion point to "Before page 1".
