Extract Pages

Export selected pages as new PDF

How to use

Purpose

Pull selected pages from a PDF to form a new PDF — the inverse of deleting. Commonly used to slice a single chapter out of a large compendium for distribution. Runs locally via pdf-lib; no upload, no watermark, no page limit, free.

Steps

  1. Drag or pick a PDF
  2. Review the thumbnail grid
  3. Tick pages to keep, or type a range like 1-3,8,15-20
  4. (Optional) Drag to reorder the extracted pages
  5. The right-side preview shows the new sequence
  6. Click "Process"
  7. Download the result, named with "-extracted" suffix

FAQ

Will quality degrade?
No. Extraction copies internal page objects — fonts, images, text layers all preserved with no re-rendering or recompression.
Will my file be uploaded?
No. Everything happens locally via pdf-lib; your source never leaves your device.
Can I reorder extracted pages?
Yes. After ticking pages, drag thumbnails to set the order in the new PDF. So you can take the old page 5 and put it first in the new file.
Difference from Split?
Split breaks a PDF into multiple independent files (per page or every N pages). Extract picks specific pages into one new PDF. Use Extract for a one-off selection; use Split for systematic chapter-level chunking.
Can I extract non-contiguous pages?
Yes. Use a mixed range like 1-3,5,8-10. The tool stitches them into a new PDF in the order you specified.

Use cases

  • Pull a single quarter's section from an annual financial report for submission
  • Extract one contract from a scanned bundle to send to that signatory
  • Slice a chapter from a textbook PDF for supplementary teaching material
  • Save the thesis abstract + acknowledgments as a standalone file
  • Share an ebook's TOC + chapter 1 as a sample preview

Tip

For straightforward sequential extraction, enter ranges like 1-5,10-15. If you want to reorder (e.g., put page 10 first), tick first then drag thumbnails. Batch ranges beats clicking pages one by one for bulk extractions.
